This is a delicious Médoc from the historic Château Phélan Ségur estate which, as you might guess, has an Irish connection. The wine bears the name of Frank Phélan, who developed the estate founded by his father, Bernard Phélan. Bernard was a Tipperary native who left Ireland at the end of the 18th century for a life in Bordeaux. Today, the renowned 70-hectare estate is considered by many to be an honorary Cru Classé and this is a beautiful introduction to its wines.
